Forging the Future Through UK Innovation and Technology

Thursday 15th September 2022

Theatre :  Supply Chain, Trade and Policy

t4

This presentation highlights the importance of innovation and technology in manufacturing bespoke, high-integrity, critical components such as large forgings and castings.

In order to fabricate such products more quickly and cheaply, several vital ingredients need to be brought together; these include investment in equipment and people, increased adoption of advanced technologies and any relevant elements of “Industry 4.0”.

In addition, the use of innovative technologies enables greater flexibility in defining the characteristics of each component and helps to tailor the manufacturing process to suit. This approach also facilitates undertaking more demanding technical challenges and looking at entirely new ways of creating components, which allow for greater manufacturing efficiency and stronger, lighter, more complex end products.
